What is ThermiVa®?

Due to many different life events, a woman’s vaginal tissue and surrounding muscles can become lax or stretched. This can lead to a lack of sensitivity, a sense of heaviness in the vagina, unsatisfactory sexual intercourse and pelvic organ prolapse. ThermiVa® is a non-surgical procedure for vaginal and labial tightening and rejuvenation. It uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to gently heat tissue in order to reverse vaginal atrophy and help address a number of symptoms.

Who is a Candidate?

Women who have stretched vaginal tissue and surrounding muscles due to childbirth, aging, trauma, or genetics can often benefit from ThermiVa®. In addition, when combined with platelet rich plasma, ThermiVa® can help reduce the pain and discomfort associated with lichen sclerosus and lichen planus. The only contraindication to ThermiVa is pregnancy and immediate postpartum condition. The ThermiVa® Treatment

During treatment, the handheld ThermiVa® device is used to deliver RF energy to the inside and outside of the vagina. This energy heats the vaginal tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production to rebuild and tighten the vagina and vulvar areas. This treatment is completely painless and emits a warming sensation. The treatment process takes about 30-40 minutes to complete in the office.
What to Expect After ThermiVa®

Because ThermiVa® is non-surgical, it requires no downtime or recovery. Patients can feel free to resume their regular activities and sexual activities on the same day. Some patients may experience immediate improvement, with full benefits noticeable about two weeks after treatment.
For optimal results, most people require three separate treatments each spaced one month apart. A touch-up appointment may be needed every 9-12 months in order to maintain results. Results can last up to one year.
