Biote® pellets are one of the most popular methods of hormone therapy. It works by inserting a specially prescribed pellet under the skin, where it releases a steady stream of hormones over the following months. Biote® pellets are so popular because they don’t require any daily maintenance – you don’t need to return for injections or remember to take a pill every day. However, Biote® pellets require a minimally invasive, in-office procedure, and thus, you’ll need to take some aftercare steps to ensure a good result. Here’s what to know about post-procedure care after Biote® pellet insertion here at Tideline Center for Health & Aesthetics.
Avoid Intensive Exercise for 3-4 Days
Engaging in intensive exercise can increase your chances of bleeding, bruising, and infection. You can still go about your regular daily activities, but if you normally exercise, make sure to take a few days off and allow your body to heal. This includes sports and heavy lifting, as well as activities that raise your pulse, such as extensive cleaning around the house or a long walk.
Apply an Ice Pack
Ice can help manage swelling and any discomfort after the insertion process. Make sure to wrap your cool pack or frozen vegetables in a towel to protect your skin, and apply it for fifteen minutes. Do this a few times per day, ensuring you don’t leave it on for long periods of time.
Keep the Area Dry
For the first 24 hours, avoid getting the bandages and wound wet. This means you’ll want to plan ahead and shower before your insertion procedure. You can resume your regular bathing habits after 24 hours. If you get your wound wet, remove the bandage, pat dry, and put a clean, dry bandage on.
Avoid Hot Tubs, Baths, and Pools
For the first three days, avoid soaking in water, such as a bath, hot tub, or pool. These activities can introduce bacteria into the wound and raise the risk of infection. After three days, you can resume these activities. Just make sure to clean the area thoroughly afterward.
Avoid Scrubbing
When you resume bathing normally, make sure to avoid scrubbing the area until it’s completely healed, which takes about a week. Scrubbing too vigorously can reopen the wound and cause bleeding and infection. For the time being, gently wash the area with an unscented cleanser and pat it dry with a clean towel afterward.
Contact Your Provider
Our team will give you a list of symptoms to watch out for, as well as how to contact your provider with concerns. These things typically include bleeding that isn’t stopped with pressure, as well as any abnormal discharge or painful swelling. These are signs of infection that require prompt medical attention.
